On my first attempt to operate in the DV mode, I connected through the local access repeater to a gateway repeater and was informed by a couple of hams that my audio was very loud and distorted. I backed off the mic a bit and reset the TX DV treble and bass settings to zero. The report was not much better. Anyone else experience this in the DV mode? I ran some tests on the FM audio using a monitor radio and it was fine in FM mode so can't tell what the situation may be.

[Icom IC-7100] Low power output on ssb
I think we are all screwed, I do not think Icom is going to do anything about the low power out put on SSB problem.
Do not hold your breath.
You have what you have and you better like it .
I did the mic upgrade and yes it sounds a little better but the Power on SSB problem is still there.
So what can I do ? I guess ill live with it Until someone finds a MOD that takes care of this problem.
I do not think there will be a software fix for this unless the ALC has been compony set at an improper level.
And ICOM is trying to govern the output power levels. So I ask if any one has a fix for this please let me know I like the IC-7100 but I feel that I put my money into the ICOM technology too soon and Im just a ICOM guinea pig.I tell you on my next purchase I will truly do my homework based on real world word of mouth and join a blog group before I make my buy not after like I just did. Fool me once shame on you ICOM shame on me fool me twice shame on me.
Shame on you ICOM.....

Icom IC-7100 Unboxing
Icom IC-7100 Unboxing
Icom IC-7000's started arriving at all Ham Radio Outlet locations this week, so I took the opportunity to stop in and pick one up. This is the first mobile HF rig with D-Star Capability, allowing a user to use DV mode on the HF bands like on the Icom IC-9100. This radio further establishes Icom's new paradigm for how users interact with D-Star by including GPS enabled "Near Repeater" functionality, full D-Star Repeater Lists, and the list of all D-PLUS Reflector nodes.

IC-7100 - Remote
The latest HF/VHF/UHF rig from ICOM are supported by Remoterig. You get full remote functionality from the control panel and the feeling is exactly as if you use them locally. It’s one of the simplest rig to setup and come on the air with. No special cables needed, just connect the RJ45:s and setup the parameters in the boxes. The performance of the radio is comparable with much more expesive earlier models. This setup is going to be a Killer, believe me.
The picture below show my control panel when visiting our relatives 1500 km from home. RRC with WiFi and a Huawei 4G/LTE router with Wifi in the kitchen window is all needed. I got full control over my remote HF-station and are able to chat with the guys at home on 2m. (4G/LTE gave 20-40 Mbit and 36 ms pingtime)

ICOM IC-7100 QSO Recorder is low audio
I find that my QSO recordings from my 7100 is much lower then from my 51a. The audio is low in both D-STAR so and regular FM repeater QSO. Is there a way to increased the audio of the recording?

International DSTAR HF Testing Net – SUMMER Schedule
Use your ICOM 9100/7100, or STAR Boarded non ICOM DSTAR HF, or the DSTAR box from NC.
We routinely have two way communications coast to coast and North to South, South to Canada, Europe and Australia. We have had two way contacts to Japan. And have been heard in South Africa.
We are on each band only for 2-5 min. or so as to spend less time, if the band is dead we move on earlier. You can go back to a good freq after the net.
MONITOR REF030C to coordinate. WE may need to move early or if the freq is busy. We do not want to step on any AM or SSB activity.
